Auckland Theatre Company & Smouldering Masterpiece Theatre present the New Zealand Premiere of Filler Up!

Co-written by Lowry Marshall

As Deb Filler bakes a loaf of golden challah bread to her father's cherished recipe, she fills us in on her complicated relationship with food and family in a skinny society.

Deb brings a colourful family to life, from Long Island Aunt Vippy, to a loving mother (who spends all day in the supermarket planning meals, and then goes on the Scarsdale Diet), to the black radical activist girlfriend rapping how much she loves Deb's ass just the way it is. Most of all, Deb introduces us to her beloved dad - who after the liberation of the camps, baked bread with his former captors to save them from starving.

Described as part Ruby Wax mixed with Tracy Ullman and a sprinkling of Nigella Lawson, Deb Filler's 'FILLER UP!' is a passionately funny play about coming to terms with food, with feelings that keep us down and fill us up, and is likely to connect with anyone who's ever looked in the mirror. 'FILLER UP!' goes down a treat!
